My Terrapin Tank Reaches 30°C in Summer — Here’s What I Do

Image
Keeping terrapins at home has taught me that sometimes the small things are the ones I end up worrying about the most. In summer, one of those things is water temperature . I keep four terrapins together in a large indoor tank, and when the weather gets hot, the water gets warmer than I expected. During most of the warmer months, the water temperature in my tank stays around 28–29°C (82–84°F) . But during the hottest part of summer, it can reach 29–30°C (84–86°F) . And yes — that’s even with a fan running. My terrapin setup at home. During the hottest part of summer, I run the fan above the tank to move air across the water surface. Summer Made Me Pay Attention to Water Temperature When I first started keeping terrapins, I worried more about things like food, filtration, and giving them somewhere to rest and bask. Water temperature seemed like one of the easier things. Then summer arrived. As the room became hotter, I started seeing the thermometer climb to 28°C, 29°C,...

LEGO Hogwarts Meets One Piece — My Whitebeard & Luffy Figure Display

Image
Sometimes the best displays are the ones that were never supposed to exist. Hogwarts meets One Piece — Whitebeard and Luffy in a crossover that was never supposed to happen. I like LEGO. I like One Piece figures. And I also like Harry Potter. So instead of keeping them in completely separate corners of the room, I decided to put them together. The result? Whitebeard and Luffy standing in front of Hogwarts. Does it make any sense in either universe? Absolutely not. But somehow, it works. And that's exactly why I like it. It Started With Hogwarts The LEGO Hogwarts Castle was already one of my favorite pieces to display. Even from a distance, the towers and architecture create a surprisingly convincing background. It doesn't just feel like a LEGO set sitting on a shelf. It feels like a small world. But after looking at it for a while, I started thinking that the space in front of the castle felt a little too empty. And that's where One Piece entered Hogwarts. ...

My Simple Solo Camping Setup: The Gear I Actually Enjoy Using (By Jerrad — Everyday Answer Lab)

Image
Some of my favorite camping trips begin with a very simple thought: "I have some free time. Why not go camping?" No complicated plan. I put a tent, a few chairs, a table, some food and whatever else I need into my car and drive away from the city. Sometimes I go somewhere near the mountains. Sometimes near a river. And sometimes the destination isn't particularly important. I just want a quiet place, a good view, something nice to cook, and a night where I don't have to do very much. That's what solo camping has gradually become for me. I've collected quite a bit of camping gear over the years, but interestingly, my actual camping style has become simpler. I still love good gear. I just don't want the gear to become the reason camping feels like work. A Tent Should Make Me Want to Go Camping For solo or two-person camping, two shelters have become my favorites. One is the Plan40 Dice . One of my favorite Plan40 Dice setups for a quiet solo camping trip....

Keeping 4 Terrapins at Home: 7 Problems I Wish I Knew About Earlier

Image
Keeping terrapins looks simple at first. Give them clean water, food, a place to bask, some warmth and light — and watch them grow. At least, that's what I thought. After raising four terrapins at home , I've learned that the difficult part isn't simply feeding them. It's figuring out what their behavior is trying to tell you. Why is one terrapin swimming constantly? Why is another suddenly inactive? Why is it sleeping outside the water? Why is it closing its eyes while swimming? Why are nitrate levels rising even though the water looks clean? And perhaps most surprisingly... Why did one of my terrapins bite another? I've worried about all of these things myself. So this isn't meant to be a textbook written by a veterinarian or reptile expert. It's a collection of problems I've actually encountered while keeping terrapins at home — and the things I've learned along the way. If you're a new terrapin owner wondering whether something you're s...

Real vs. Fake Roronoa Zoro P.O.P SOC Figure: Can You Spot the Difference?

Image
If you're a One Piece figure collector , I have an interesting comparison to share with you today. Take a close look at these two Roronoa Zoro P.O.P SOC figures . One is authentic. The other one isn't. Can you tell which is which? Two Roronoa Zoro P.O.P SOC figures from my personal collection. One is authentic and one is unofficial. Can you spot the difference? If you've read my previous post, you may recognize this scene. These are the same Roronoa Zoro P.O.P SOC (Portrait.Of.Pirates S.O.C) figures I introduced in my first post on Everyday Answer Lab . But there was something I didn't tell you. One of the two Zoro figures is unofficial. And having both of them in my collection has given me a very interesting opportunity. I can compare them directly. Not through promotional images. Not through random photos found online. But with both figures actually in front of me. And that makes a big difference. With Both Figures in Your Hands, the Difference Is Clear Let me start ...
